BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Troy junior first baseman Logan Pierce has been named to the Sun Belt All-Conference First Team, the league announced at the Sun Belt Baseball Tournament Family Night Tuesday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
Pierce enters the Sun Belt Tournament eighth in the league batting at a .341 clip with 16 doubles, five home runs and 45 RBIs. The native of Troy, Ala., ranks third in the Sun Belt with a .445 on-base percentage and is fourth in walks (41) and sixth in runs scored (46). Pierce's doubles total is the fourth best in the Sun Belt while he is sixth in hits and fifth in RBIs.
Pierce becomes the 14th Trojan to earn First Team All-Sun Belt honors since Troy joined the league back in 2006. His selection also marks the seventh straight year that a Trojan has earned first team honors (all seven years in the league).
He leads the Trojans with 24 multi-hit games and is third on the team with nine multi-RBI games. Pierce made a run at history earlier in the season when he put together a 20-game hit streak. He hit .474 with multiple hits in 13 of the 20 games; he had seven doubles, three home runs and 18 RBIs during the streak.
Pierce has reached base safely in all but six games this season and has hit safely in 44 of Troy's 55 contests heading into the Sun Belt Tournament.
Troy enters the Sun Belt Tournament as the six seed and opens pool play on Thursday against third-seeded FIU at 11 a.m.
