By: Staff Reports
Updated: May 22, 2012

Four people have been arrested and charged with the May 3 beating death of a Headland man who was dumped at a hospital shortly after the attack.  Darren Minniefield, 45, died May 17th from severe injuries suffered during the alleged attack.

Those arrested and charged with Capital Murder include Cassandra White, 47 of Headland and three people who live in Dothan---Charles Turner, 47, Mary Louis Partridge, 52, and Jarvin Jackson, 22 years old.

Headland Police Chief Mark Jones wouldn't discuss motives for the attack, citing an ongoing investigation during which there could be additional arrests.  He also didn't specify the exact location of the beating but said it occurred in a Headland residential neighborhood.  He said Minniefield was dropped outside the emergency room at Southeast Alabama Medical Center sometime after the attack by at least some of those involved.

A family member of the deceased told WDHN's Megan Hunter at least two of those charged had "been after Minniefield for a about two weeks."  He wouldn't speculate further about the circumstances.

A first appearance is scheduled Tuesday afternoon for the four arrested.  There is no bond on capital murder charges.
