Mr. Curtis Long of Fadette
passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Flowers Hospital. He was
78.
Funeral services
will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, in Fadette Pentecostal Ministries
Church with Rev. Johnny Strickland officiating.
Burial will follow in Fadette Pentecostal Ministries Church Cemetery with
Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on
Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Long was born on May 17, 1933 in Webb, AL to the late
Charlie William and Ollie Hinson Long.
He owned and operated Long's Upholstery in Dothan for 30 years. He was
also in the real estate business for 30 years.
Mr. Long found the love of his life, Norma Jean Smith Long, and married
her on October 26, 1956 in Fadette, AL.
He moved to Slocomb (Fadette Community) in
2004.
He was
preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Cora Lee Chambers, Perry B. Newton, Eunice
Squires; five brothers: Dayton, Carl,
Walter, Euell and Marvin Long; one great grandson: Jeremiah
Long.
Survivors
include his wife, Norma Jean Smith Long, of Fadette; one daughter: Leigh Ann Long Cochran (Charles) of Fadette;
one son: Curtis Michael Long (Wanda) of
Fadette; four grandchildren: Michelle
Long, David Long (Joanna), Joseph Long, Madalyn Cochran; four great
grandchildren: Willow and Journey Long,
Malachi and Noah Long; three sisters: Lucille Whitaker, Nell Eubanks, Ann Long; one
brother: Hubert Long; three
sisters-in-law: Christine Long, Irene
Long and Hattie Long Wells (Bobby); numerous nieces and
nephews.
