Marvin Culver, Jr., 62, of Dothan passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held 4 pm Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Bonds officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Culver was born June 18, 1949 in Newville, AL. He lived the early part of his life, and attended school there. He moved to Dothan in 1982 where he was employed at Heard School for many years. Until the accident, he was employed at the Dothan Eagle and Crestlawn Cemetery. He enjoyed sports, had a passion for landscaping, watching CNN news, but above all--politics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Culver Sr. and Mary A. Culver; a sister Susan Daniels; father-in-law C.W. (Ruck) Bonds; brother-in-law James Underwood.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Alice Culver of Dothan; To this union 10 children were born. The light of his life: Marvin D. Culver, Jerel J. Culver, Derrick Culver, Brad E. Culver, Victor J. Culver, Melvin D. Culver, Malcolm A. Culver, Alesie S. Petty, Andrea L. Culver and Christy Oliver; special son-in-law, Gilbert Petty; brothers-in-law, Dr. Charles Bonds, Wayne Reaves, Rev. Willie E. Bonds, Scottie Dean, David Moore and Sammy Salter; sisters-in-law, Dr. Theresa Bonds, Jerlean Reaves, Bettye Bonds, Louise Dean, Caldonia Moore, Cynthia Helms, Debra Bonds, Catherine Bonds, and Felecia Russell. daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Culver. brother, Johnny Culver; sisters, Christine Salter, Corine Salter, and Gwendolyn Underwood; mother-in-law, Lillie Rene Bonds; three special grandchildren, Princess Jackson, Macasia Culver, and Vincent Oliver Jr. 24 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; special niece Jacqueline Salter; special nephew, Andrew Salter; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Sylvester Russell, James Woods, Nathaniel Patterson, Cecil Satcher, and Larry Garlington.
