Enterprise, AL May 10, 2012 - Enterprise State Community College received notification this morning that due to an administrative reporting deficiency, the ESCC Men's baseball team has become ineligible for the upcoming ACCC (Alabama Community College Conference) Tournament and the 2011/2012 winning season for the Weevils has turned to one of loses.

"The players have done nothing wrong, they have made no mistakes," said Coach Tim Hulsey, ESCC Head Baseball Coach.  "Every player is eligible academically and has done everything they were supposed to do.  However, there are rules and we have to stand by them and accept responsibility."

ESCC will receive a cut in baseball scholarships by 25% for one year, taking the number of available scholarships to 16. The team is not on probation, but will receive audits in the upcoming year.

Hulsey continued to say that the players are determined to return to ESCC 2012/2013. Coach plans to sign 14 current players for the upcoming year, which will leave two additional scholarship opportunities.

"Students come here because of academics and the heart of their coach," said Dr. Nancy W. Chandler, ESCC President. "They come to ESCC because they know it's a great stepping stone to transfer to larger institutions. We are saddened by the lost opportunity for these young men."

The ESCC Weevils ended their season 22 - 18 prior to the sanctioning.  No other ESCC Athletics are affected by this matter.
