Forum To Offer Stage For Candidates Seeking Commission Seat

A political forum featuring four candidates for the Houston County Commission will be held next Monday.  The forum will be sponsored by WDHN.  The station will be record the forum beginning at 7:00 p.m. and a play it on-air Sunday, May 20, at 10:00 pm.   The one-hour program will be presented without commercial interruption.  The special election will be held two days later on May 22.  Ken Curtis will moderate.

Those participating will be John Gormley, Melinda McClendon, Nathan Mathis, and Susan Wilkins.  The four are vying for the seat vacated when longtime District 4 commissioner Phil Forrester died earlier this year.  The term runs through 2014. 

"We are glad to give potential voters a chance to get to know the candidates better," WDHN Vice-President and General Manager Janie B. Hinson said.   "We take our role as a community partner seriously and this is one way we can show our dedication to viewers."

The forum will be held at Harvest Church on Fortner Street in the main worship center.  "We are certainly grateful to Pastor Ralph Sigler and Harvest for making their church available to us," said Hinson. 

Everyone is welcome to attend the forum and, of course, there will no admission charge.
