Bentley, Scott Promise Joint Recuiting Effort In Dothan Meeting

There has never been a more pressing time for Alabama and Florida to work toward attracting industry.  That was the theme from Governor Robert Bentley of Alabama and his Florida counterpart, Governor Rick Scott.  They met in Dothan Monday night at a Republican fundraiser held at The Grand on Foster.

"What we are going to do is work to attract more companies and make sure companies (already here) are more successful, "Scott said.  Both he and Bentley are first term governors whose states are facing financial hardships.

"We must work together to attract a mega project that will benefit (both Florida and Alabama)," said Bentley.  Such an industry is being sought in an effort announced earlier this year.  So far, few details have been released though Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce President Matt Parker says he's "hopeful."

Republicans shelled out $100 each to attend the fundraiser which benefits the Houston County chapter of the Party.  It was hosted by several entities including Dothan mayor Mike Schmitz.
