Filmore Wins Circuit Judge Race For Dale And Geneva Counties

Bill Filmore will be the new Circuit Judge for Dale and Geneva counties.

Filmore picked up 72% of the vote in a runoff with Stuart Smith. Filmore is the Chief Assistant District Attorney for Dale and Geneva counties.

Filmore has no opposition in the November general election. He will take over in January of 2013 for PB McLaughlin who term limited due to his age.

In other races of interest:
  • Incumbent Geneva County District 2 Commissioner Joe Howell was defeated by Gary Shields in a race separated by just 26 votes. Shields held the commissioner's seat four years ago when he was defeated by Howell. Shields won his first term in office by defeating Howell who was the incumbent at the time.
  • Sharon Michalic defeated Woody Hilboldt in the race for Probate Judge in Dale County. Michalic picked up 63% of the vote.
  • Jimmy Jones defeated Larry Greenwood by just 36 votes when the night was over in the race for the Democratic nomination for Coffee County District 5 Commissioner.
  • Statewide, Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh holds a large lead over Chip Brown in the race for the Republican nomination for Public Service Commission President.
