By: Stephen Crews
Updated: April 22, 2012

The Panama City Police Department and Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating a shooting that left an officer shot and a suspect dead.

PCPD responded to an address at 7th Street and East Avenue in Millville around 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

Police say 3 to 4 officers engaged an armed suspect and were trying to use minimal force. They say the suspect shot an officer and that's when they had to use deadly force. They have not said what the initial call was for.

The suspect died on the way to the hospital. His name has not been released. The officers name and condition are unknown at this time.

The FDLE will look into the shooting to see if officers were justified in their actions. It is routine for the FDLE to investigate officer involved shootings.

We are waiting on more information from PCPD Police Chief. We will update you as soon as we can.
