TROY, Ala. - The Troy football team returned to the field at Veterans Memorial Stadium Thursday afternoon for the first full-pad spring practice.

The Trojans continued their schedule of 26 five-minute periods, just like the previous two practices. Lightning forced everyone off the field for approximately 30 minutes, but the players and coaches returned to the field to complete their first full contact workout.

Troy will be returning two key wide receivers in Chip Reeves and Jamel Johnson this season after they both sat out last year. Troy offensive coordinator Kenny Edenfield said he's glad to have them back on the field to help lead the wide receiver core.

"Right now we're pleased with the effort but we haven't played any football yet," said Edenfield. "Both of those guys have flown around; they haven't lost a lot from when they were here before.
Everyone knows they're playmakers so it's been good to have them out here."

The battle for the quarterback position is always discussed, but Edenfield said that Corey Robinson is comfortable in the role ahead of some younger guys who are looking for chances.

"Corey's had a good presence with the offense," Edenfield said. "There are a couple of guys that are getting some opportunities and they've been taking advantage of it."

Troy will continue its spring schedule this Saturday at 10 a.m. All practices are free and open to the public. Troy's annual T-Day game is set for Saturday, Mar. 31 and will also be free.
