Dedrick Sumpter is going back home to Mobile.

The Mobile County School Board hired Sumpter as the new football coach and athletic director at Williamson High on Wednesday night. He replaces Bobby Parrish, who stepped down after 12 years with the Lions.

Sumpter takes over a program that is returning to 5A this season after four years in Class 6A.

Sumpter has served as an assistant coach of the Dothan High School football team and he was also the head basketball coach of the Tigers.
