Jalin Lawson Wins Home Run Derby

Charles Henderson Trojans second baseman, Jalin Lawson hit six home runs in the finals to take home this year's Wiregrass Home Run Derby title at Rehobeth High School Baseball Field.

On a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, Lawson Houston Academy's Cami Choquette by one long ball.

Alex Plagenhoef of Providence Christian won a slug-off to take third place over Trey Truitt of Rehobeth. Both slammed three over the fence in the finals.

Gabriel Granger of Northside Methodist Academy, who had led all participants with 11 total home runs in the preliminary stages of the derby, hit only two home runs in the finals.

With the win, Lawson took home a plaque, a metal-bat and a $500 check for Charles Henderson.

Before the finals began, there was a ceremony for the David Hussey Memorial Scholarship, which is given annually to a deserving Enterprise State Junior College athlete, to Jacob Malkoff.
