Star Running Back Michael Dyer Leaves Auburn

By: Josh Rultenberg
Updated: January 9, 2012

Last night, the Auburn Tigers lost one of their best players in history, when Michael Dyer decided to leave school.

Auburn University has giving Dyer a conditional release, which allows him to transfer schools.

To many, the obvious choice is Arkansas State, where Dyer would be reunited with Auburn's former offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

The star running back was suspended for violations of undisclosed team rules and did not play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

He rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons and was named MVP of last year's BCS Championship game.

This past season, Dyer rushed for 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns
