Hoke Granger thought his chance had passed. Granger stopped following the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on Wednesday, assuming he would not be selected during the final 20 rounds.

It turns out, Granger was wrong. He got the call every player wants to receive, as Houston drafted Granger in the 42nd Round with the 1072th overall pick.

Granger drew interest during his senior year, thanks to a monster season. The Astros saw enough when they visited Dothan earlier this year to pick Granger, giving him a memory he'll cherish for the rest of his life.

In his only season at Northside Methodist, Granger hit .615 with 19 home runs and 100 r.b.i. Granger says he'll probably pass on a contract offer from the Astros, and play at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City next year.
