1. Before installing a ceiling fan, you must first make sure that there’s enough clearance for the fan. It’s recommended that you have at least an eight-foot ceiling. The fan is going to hang down almost a foot, and you have to make sure there’s enough clearance between the fan blades and someone’s head.
2. You can use electrical power from an existing circuit to power your new fan. Always be sure to first turn the power off to the circuit before you remove the light fixture. Once it’s removed, disconnect the electrical wires, and make sure that they’re in good shape.
3. Next, check the electrical box that used to hold the old fixture. Make sure that it’s strong enough to support the weight of the fan. If it’s in bad shape, replace it.
4. Install the mounting bracket and then securely fasten it so that the fan doesn’t wobble.
5. The next step is to attach the fan assembly to the mounting bracket, which should just slide right into place.
6. Next, attach the wires. White should go to white, black to black, green to green, and blue to blue. Be sure to cover every connection with a wire nut. If you have specific questions about wiring, be sure to consult a licensed electrician.
7. Once the wiring’s complete, attach the canopy and the fan blades.
8. Finally, turn the power on to the switch, and turn the fan on.
