A federal judge has issued a temporary injunction on a ban on payroll deductions for teacher dues to AEA.

AEA Leader Paul Hubbard has indicated that the decision to ban payroll deductions for membership dues would severely damage the organization.

The ban was to go into effect on Sunday but the injunction halts that plan.

Legislators passed the ban of payroll deductions for membership dues during their special session in December when they also passed a number of other items related to ethics reform in Alabama.

U.S. District Judge Lynwood Smith issued the injunction.
