With spring only a few says away, it's a perfect time to start spring cleaning. Jason Harris with Jimmy's Heating and Cooling says , your air conditioning unit is the first place to begin.
" As we switch from the heating to the cooling season, the unit starts working a little bit harder so it's a good thing to have preventive service and a maintenance check," said Harris.
Harris says most units have been running all year long. Harris says there are some simple things you can do yourself.
" Never underestimate your air condition filter. You need to change it every thirty days. Lots of homes that have high dust loads, pets in the home, or a lot of people in the home may need to change it more frequently then that," said Harris.
Maintaining your A.C. unit's on the outside of your home is one thing, but properly controlling your air conditioning system's thermostat can save you money on your energy bill.
" Don't try and make the system get down to 68, 67 degrees. Try to maintain around a 72 degree temperature," said Harris.
Harris says taking care of potential problems now can save you money down the road.
