The injury didn't stop Jones from running the third fastest time of any wide receiver and nearly setting a combine record in the broad jump. He will have a screw inserted in the foot, which will require eight weeks of rehab.
Jones is projected as a first round pick, and could be the first receiver taken in the draft.
Defensive Lineman Work At Combine
Offensive players too center stage at the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend. On Monday, defensive linemen and linebackers got their shot in front of NFL personnel in Indianapolis.
Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley made news on Sunday, when he measured smaller than expected. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds at Auburn, Fairley measured only 6-foot-3 and 291 pounds at the Combine.
That lighter weight helped Fairley during Monday's workout, as he ran a 4.82 40-yard dash. He's still projected as a top five pick, and could go first overall to Carolina.
But, Fairley could get some stiff competition from Alabama's Marcel Dareus for the honor of top defensive lineman in this year's draft. Dareus weighed in at nearly 320 pounds, and still ran a 4.92 40-yard dash.
He also performed well in drills, and reportedly did well during the interview portion of the Combine. Dareus is also projected as a top five pick, and his strong showing at the Combine could make him a serious contender for the top pick, along with Fairley and Clemson's Da'Quan Bowers.
