On Wednesday, March 2, 2011, a Press
Conference will be held at 10:30 am at the Capital City Club to announce the
Buy Alabama’s Best Campaign for 2011.
The Buy Alabama’s Best Campaign is a partnership
between the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, the Alabama
Grocers Association and the Alabama Food Manufacturers and Producers Association.
Speakers will include Commissioner John McMillan, Alabama Department of
Agriculture and Industries; Johnny Collins, President, Alabama Food Manufacturers
and Producers Association; Harold Garrett, Vice Chairman, Alabama Grocers
Association; Emily Hornak, Cause Marketing and Corporate Partnerships, Children’s
Hospital of Alabama; John D. Fox, Jr., Vice President of Retail, Alabama Food
Manufacturers and Producers Association and Virginia Whitfield, Vice President
of Membership, Alabama Food Manufacturers and Producers Association.
The Buy Alabama’s Best campaign will run during the months of March and September and is designed to inform consumers what products are made, produced, manufactured and/or headquartered here in the state of Alabama. During these tough economic times it is vitally important to support our local economy. Alabama food product sales have a $2 billion impact in Alabama’s economy, tax base and along with the grocery and food service industries, employ one out of every four Alabamians. A portion of the sale of Alabama products during the months of March and September will go to Children’s Hospital of Alabama to help find a cure for childhood cancer. To date, our efforts have raised over a quarter of a million dollars.
In
addition, during the months of March and September grocery retailers
from
around the state will be supporting this campaign in their stores with
Alabama product displays, ads featuring Alabama products and
participating retailers
will sell Children’s Hospital icons to support our fight to find a cure
for
pediatric cancer.
