Coffee County Deputy EMA Director James Brown said the county's outdoor weather alert sirens were tested during the statewide tornado drill shortly after 9 a.m. He said both the drill and the testing went off without a hitch, and all 27 of the county's weather sirens worked they were supposed to.
But he said that although the sirens are effective in alerting people to severe weather, nothing can take the place of being prepared. He urges everyone to have a plan for when natural disaster strikes, including a survival kit with items like food, water, clean clothes and batteries.
