Alabama Farmers Go High-Tech In The Field

They weren't the largest things at the trade show, but they promise to have a huge impact on farming.

The Alabama-Florida Peanut Trade Show Thursday in Dothan was packed with peanut producers looking over the farm equipment on display, but they also found something that their ancestors may never have heard of. Global Positioning Satellite receivers can now be installed on a tractor at planting time to record just where the seed is planted. That information is used again at harvest to guide the tractor into the very same spots using global positioning- which makes for a more efficient harvest.
