Door To Door Solicitors Arrested In Violation Of City Ordinance

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: February 6, 2011

On Thursday, February 3rd 2011, Officers with the DeFuniak Springs Police responded to citizen complaints of suspicious persons going door to door and attempting to sell merchandise.  One subject was located in the area of South First Street and Bay Avenue.  Investigation determined that the individual did not have a permit to solicit within the city limits.  It was reported that at least five other subjects were out soliciting in the DeFuniak Springs Area, unpermitted.   The group was travelling around the city in a white cargo van.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that business transactions did take place within the city limits.  After several attempts to meet with the group’s supervisor, officers did interview three of the six subjects and did determine that all were in violation of City Ordinance.  One of the three subjects had an active warrant out of Georgia.  Georgia authorities refused to extradite Roderick Jermaine Rudisel on their warrant.

Police quickly learned that all three subjects had extensive criminal histories in multiple states and all were taken into custody and transported to the Walton County Jail, where they were booked for Violation of City Ordinance 17-1 (Identification Card and Permit Required).  The investigation is on-going at this time.  Arrested were; Kwane A. Dimery from Colorado, Timothy R. Bunch from Minnesota and Roderick J. Rudisel from Miami, Florida.  The group told officers they were staying in Ft. Walton Beach.

The DeFuniak Springs Police want to know if anyone made purchases for products from these individuals using a personal check or a credit card.  Please contact the DeFuniak Springs Police at 850-892-8513 if you made a purchase from a door to door solicitor on Thursday, February 3rd 2011 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
