Mobile FBI Office Chief Retiring To Take Unnamed Job With State

Timothy J. Fuhrman, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Mobile
field office, announced Thursday that he will retire from his position to take a law enforcement job with the state of Alabama.
In a news release, Fuhrman said that an announcement regarding his new job "is due to be made shortly."
Since his statement, it has been learned that Fuhrman will go to work for Attorney General Luther Strange in the public corruption section of his office.
Fuhrman has been in law enforcement for almost 29 years.
The Mobile FBI field office has been in the news for its work investigating the bingo bribery case that resulted in the October indictment of 11 people on federal charges. The defendants in that case include 4 state senators, lobbyists, casino operators Milton McGregor and Ronnie Gilley and others.
Richard D. Schwein Jr., the assistant special agent in charge, will head the Mobile FBI office until Fuhrman’s successor arrives. That individual has not yet been named by FBI Director Robert Mueller, according to the FBI.
