Attorney General Pam Bondi was sworn into office today as Florida’s 37th Attorney General. Bondi, a fourth-generation Floridian, joined Governor Rick Scott, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam at today’s inaugural ceremony where the new governor and cabinet members assumed the responsibilities of their offices.

“I am deeply honored to be granted the opportunity to serve the citizens of Florida as their Attorney General,” said Attorney General Bondi. “My main priority is the safety and well being of Floridians, and I vow to work hard to protect the people of this great state.”

Bondi, a graduate of the University of Florida and Stetson Law School, served as a front-line prosecutor for over 18 years. Her investigative and courtroom experience includes the successful prosecution of numerous first-degree murder cases and two capital cases. She served as Felony Bureau Chief and a key member of internal homicide, vehicular homicide, and DUI manslaughter committees. She also served on the Executive Committee responsible for budget, personnel and legal strategies and served as the Vice Chair of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee.

The inaugural activities included the Salute to Women in Leadership Breakfast, the swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Old Capitol, a parade and a street festival.

Attorney General Bondi has already made several key appointments in her administration, including the appointment of former state senator Dave Aronberg to lead her Anti-Pill Mill Initiative and the appointment of Pat Gleason as Special Counsel for Open Government.
