Greene County Sheriff George Cook has apparently resigned.  Commission chairman Nick Underwood has scheduled a news conference for 10a.m. Tuesday to discuss the matter.

Cook was appointed by Gov. Bob Riley over the summer after Sheriff Ison Thomas lost his battle with cancer.  Cook's first day on the job was the same day the governor's anti-gambling task force raided Greenetrack.
