The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Crestview man turned up at North Okaloosa Medical Center Sunday with a gunshot wound to the lower left leg.

Patrick Thomas Mclain (1-29-75) says he was on railroad tracks about a mile from his home on Tanglewood Lane around 3:30 p.m. when he was confronted by an unknown black male with a gun who demanded money.

Mclain says the two got into a fight and at some point the gun went off and the bullet struck him in the leg. He told investigators he walked home before eventually being taken to the hospital by a family member.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 860-651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS.
