Christmas Eve Drugs Bust Results In Two Arrests In Washington County

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: December 27, 2010

The Washington County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of two people in a Christmas Eve traffic stop that ended in the discovery of a mobile methamphetamine lab.

An alert Chipley Police Department Officer stopped a suspicious vehicle attempting to leave the Wal-Mart Parking lot today and found much more than last minute Christmas gifts.  The CPD officer immediately contacted Investigators and K-9 Officers with the Washington County Drug Task Force, who responded to the crowded parking lot.

The WCDTF K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a search revealed an operational meth lab and a controlled substance (XANAX).  Also in the vehicle was a young child.

Arrested was:

Shawn Edward Rolen, 31 year old white male of Chipley, FL

  * Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  * Manufacturing of Methamphetamines

Summer Lynn Rolen, 30 year old white female of Prattville, AL

  * Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  * Manufacturing of Methamphetamines
  * Possession of a Controlled Substance (XANAX)

“The discovery and dismantling of a meth lab is always a big win, but the biggest relief for myself, Chief Crews, Chipley Police Officers and the WCDTF Investigators is the removal and protection of this young child” states Sheriff Haddock.  “These adults willingly placed this child in an exceptionally dangerous situation and as well are all too aware; these types of cases do not always end this well. ”

Sheriff Haddock asks that anyone with information on illegal drug activity contact 638-TIPS (8477) or email tips@wcso.us.
