Panama City Mothers Spends Christmas Searching For Missing Son

Updated: December 27, 2010

A Panama City Beach mother is searching for her son who went missing before Christmas.

Heather White reported her son, 50-year-old Gary Steven Johnston, missing on Christmas Eve.  White says Johnston left the house this past Tuesday to go bike riding and canoeing with a friend near the Alabama state line.

White spoke with her son’s friend who told her he lost contact with Johnston on the bike trail, and never found him.

Sheriff’s officials say they tried to call that friend, Nicholas Balius, on his cell phone. Officials confirm Balius never answered.

Anyone with any information on Johnston’s whereabouts should call the Bay County sheriff at 747-4700.
