Manhunt Underway Near Quincy, Florida For Murder Suspect

Updated: December 24, 2010
Gadsden County deputies are searching for Marvin Cannon, 31, in connection with a Christmas Eve homicide that took place at a home on Flat Creek Road in Quincy.
Deputies warn Cannon should be considered armed and dangerous and are asking anyone who may know where he is to immediately contact the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office at 850-875-8825.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Cannon spent at least five years in prison (2002-2004 and again 2006-2009) on charges relating to carjacking, kidnapping and false imprisonment and is currently out of prison on probation.

As of 8:30 p.m. Friday Major Shawn Wood with the Gadsden County Sheriff's office says there have been no arrests made, but are following up on leads. Wood says they're actively searching for Cannon with the help of foot patrols, K-9 units, and the helicopter air support from Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Major Wood confirms at least one person is dead, and another has been treated and released for injuries.

"We got a call from an individual here at (a residence on) Flat Creek saying someone had shown up to their house, had been attacked," Major Wood said. "Gretna Police first responded out here for us, they found an individual who had been attacked and another individual who had been deceased."

Major Wood says at this time he can't release any other information, including whether the events unfolded at the home on Flat Creek Road or how the individuals involved are connected.
