You better watch out, and you better think twice before speeding or doing anything illegal on the roads this week. As usual, the traffic will be busy as people hit the road for the holidays.

College student Mercedes Jones and her two friends are on their way home.

"We're kind of worried about it because we're trying to get home for the holidays from Montevallo to Guntersville. I've noticed it's really busy."

She may see Corporal Steve Smith on the road. He says every available state trooper is on the road this week, and while they don't want to send people to jail for Christmas...

"We will put you there if we catch you drinking and driving."

Besides working accidents, they will be looking for speeders and folks who are not wearing seatbelts, too.

"Can't stress that enough," he says. "We've seen too many crashes the last couple of weeks where people were simply not buckled up and died as a consequence of that."

So as you travel this weekend, follow the rules or get ready to be pulled over by a state trooper near you.

"It's the time of year where people are spending money, and they don't need the added expense of a ticket."
