A new Christmas tree stands tall in Birmingham's Linn Park, just one day after the first was burned by copper-thieves. Radio station KISS FM donated the tree.
A number of other cities, businesses and organizations pitched-in to replace the lights and ornaments. "I would hope that the giving that they've shown to us with this tree extends out into our greater community, that we find someone that we can help during this Christmas spirit, to show that we're not going to let anyone steal our joy," Mayor William Bell said.
This tree will be under watch 24-hours a day. A local company donated surveillance cameras and monitoring services, free of charge, to protect the tree.
