For the past eight years, Governor Riley and the first lady have opened up their home to the public for Christmas candle-light tours.

Since Monday night, over 1,000 people have walked through the governor's mansion, touring the beautiful decorations.

First Lady Patsy Riley was signing copies of her book, “Alabama's First Ladies and their Governors” for visitors.

And for her, she says having so many people line up to get her book signed was like a Christmas gift.

"The most fun part for me was getting to interview those first ladies and kind of going back in time and reliving their wonderful days as first lady,” said First Lady Patsy Riley.

Mrs. Riley added that opening the Mansion to the public is her way of saying “Merry Christmas.”
