The Thanksgiving rush may be over but work at the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank isn't slowing down.

The food bank is now turning their full attention to feeding the needy this Christmas season. The people at the food bank say they still need help meeting demand.

With the unemployment rate still high and people struggling to find work, the food bank says they're seeing more requests for help. "It's gotten pretty bad here lately. A lot of people are still losing jobs as the unemployment rate is still rising.  We are trying to feed people who would normally be donors to the food bank," the Food Bank's Julie Gonzalez said.

It's estimated there are some 37,000 people in the Wiregrass who don't have enough food. That's equal to one in every six people.
