Emergency Officials Dealing With 100-Acre Wildfire In Walton County

Florida Division of Forestry firefighters and fire suppression equipment are on the ground in the Glendale Community of North Walton County.  An approximately 100-acre wildfire has been reported there in the vicinity of 516 Brown Road.

At this time—10:25 a.m.—two Division of Forestry tractor-plow units are on the ground working the fire by plowing firelines (a.k.a. ‘fire breaks’) and an additional unit is en route to assist with the situation.  An additional tractor-plow unit is being moved to a closer proximity in the Ponce de Leon area to serve as back-up to this wildfire and/or respond in the event of another area wildfire if needed.

At this time, the cause of this wildfire is unknown
