An Alabaster man, shot Monday by a police officer, died from his injuries.  He was identified as 23-year old Gerald Dimas Luna II.

Investigators with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office are handling the investigation.  Authorities said officers had been called to the home in the 1300 block of West Navajo Drive around 4:15p.m., on a report of someone threatening suicide.  They arrived and found Luna outside the house, armed with a weapon.  An officer fired his weapon, striking Luna.  He was airlifted to the hospital, but died just after 8p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Shelby County Sheriff's Office at (205) 669-4181.
