Auburn University football players aren't the only ones taking a trip to Glendale, Arizona, for the BCS National Championship. Many fans are booking flights.
"We've gotten a lot of phone calls in the last couple of weeks," Albert Anson said.
And Anson, who is the owner of JTK Travel, says while some fans began planning the trip after this year's Iron Bowl victory, the biggest boost of sales came after the "W" in Saturday's SEC title game.
"We got several calls," he said. "A family of 50, actually, has booked."
But this isn't Anson's first run-in with fans wanting to follow their team.
Last year he says Alabama Tide fans were doing the same thing.
"The passion is pretty much the same," he said. "This has been a great shot in the arm for fans in the state of Alabama."
And Anson says many of his customers are returning from last year.
"Interestingly enough, most of our fans from last year came from mixed marriages," he said. "Alabama and Auburn marriages. So this time the other spouse gets to go on their journey. It's been very well received."
Well received and not surprising.
Even in a recovering economy, Anson says football bowl games will always sell out thanks to the fans.
"It's been absolutely fantastic," Anson said. "Travel has really picked up thanks to this win, thanks to the passion of the fans."
