Troy University’s popular theatre-for-youth ensemble “The Pied Pipers” takes its show on the road Dec. 1.

The group, sponsored by the College of Communication and Fine Arts’ Department of Theatre and Dance, will present 50-minute performances for kindergarten through fourth grade at at 9 a.m. at Luverne Elementary School and at 1:30 p.m. at Greenville Elementary School

The group is selected through an audition process primarily from first-year theatre students as part of the theatre program’s First Year Initiative.

Dr. David Dye, the group’s founder in 1970, serves as the director of the fall semester ensemble and will be accompanying the group on tour.

Adena Moree, director of theatre and dance, said that participation in the Pied Pipers connects first year students not only to the department but to the history of the university.

“The public school performances also support arts education in the schools and introduce some students to their first live theatre experience,” she said.

Members of the ensemble include Grace Bailey, of Bonifay, Fla.; Jacobi Hall, of Huntsville; Connor Murphy-White, of Greenville; Amanda Lewis, of Shady Springs, W. Va.; Tyler Wyatt, of Opp; Ryder Hollis, of Pell City; Emmie Phelps, of Bonifay, Fla.; Quede Sewell, Stone Mountain, Ga.; Ryan Williams, of Loxley; Jarilyn Lowery, of Alexander City; Zachery Price, of Donaldsonville, Ga.; Colin Cahill, of Huntsville; and Jeffrey Hawkins, of Birmingham.
