This Project House in Melissa, Texas is complemented by a beautiful landscape. All of the plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers were carefully chosen to add to the home’s beauty. Since the house is located in North Texas, it was important to work with a local landscaper who knew what plants would work best in this part of the country.

Proper landscaping is very important to the look and value of your home.

Choosing the right plants, trees, and flowers
Our plants, trees, and flowers are blooming because they are native to this part of the country. According to Ron Strange, the President of Trinity Tree Farms, "It’s very important to bring in native plants and trees for your landscape. They’re going to be adapted to the hot and the cold of your climate, and also to the soils."

In terms of plants and flowers, the Project House is adorned with Nelly R. Stevens hollies, Mary Nell hollies, dwarf yaupon hollies, hibiscus, vitex, caladiums, variegated grass, Mexican petunias, Mexican heather, zebra grass, southern wax myrtles, privets, purple fountain grass, Burford hollies, spireas, yuccas, lantanas, ruellas, and zenias.

There are also a number of trees planted around the Project House including live oaks, crepe myrtles, rose of sharon, and bald cypress trees. Trees generally increase value to your home. According to Ron Strange, "Trees add great value to your home, and they increase every year, just like a good investment."

The sod used in the front and backyard is called Celebration Bermuda, and it requires around thirty percent less water than other Bermuda sods.

Finding the right place to plant
Picking the right plants is just one step; finding the right place to plant them is another. At the Project House, certain trees and plants, were placed where they would thrive best. For example, bald cypress trees thrive in water, so they were planted in areas of the yard that would receive water drainage.

Other plants were placed accordingly depending on their tolerance for shade, sun, and heat.

A team effort
A number of other professional companies joined Trinity Tree Farms in a team effort to create the Project House’s stunning landscape design. Irrigation and drainage was provided by Sprinkalwn, Inc.; Stonegate Lawns provided the fertilizers and chemicals; the flowers were provided by Sunshine Farms; and SOD Solutions provided the sod.
