Updated: November 24, 2010

Officials with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office say a private plane has crashed into Joe’s Bayou, at the edge of Choctaw Bay, in about five feet of water.

Officials say that rescue crews have recovered three bodies.  They are not sure how many people were on board when the plane went down.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted, and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office dive team is assisting.

It is unknown at this time what may have caused the crash.
