Truck Filled With Chicken Blood Overturns On Interstate 65

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: November 11, 2010

An 18-wheeler tanker truck carrying a load of chicken blood crashed and overturned on Interstate 65 in Autauga County just before 10:00am Thursday.

Some of the chicken blood, used in the creation of makeup and dog food, spilled out of the truck as a result. ALDOT, the EMA and ADEM worked to contain and clean up the spillage.

State troopers closed one lane of I-85 northbound, but after the load was pumped into another container and the truck was removed, official reopened the roadway.

An investigation shows that a problem with the vehicle's brakes caused the driver to lose control and overturn.
