Hotel Owner Dead After Being Shot By Employee In Okaloosa County

The Crestview Police Department is currently investigating a Shooting Incident at the Holiday Inn Express located at 125 Cracker Barrel Road in Crestview.

At 10:03 a.m. this morning, November 10, 2010, Officers of the Crestview Police Department responded to a call of a shooting incident that occurred on the second floor of the Holiday Inn Express. Arriving Officers encountered a suspect, who was able to be detained peacefully. A victim has been found deceased on the second floor.

The Crestview SWAT team assisted in securing the establishment and was able to determine that there were no other suspects or victims at the establishment.

Further information pertaining to this incident will be released as it becomes available.

The Crestview Police Department has identified the suspect in the shooting at the Holiday Inn Express located at 125 Cracker Barrel Road.

The suspect, has been identified as 53 year old, James Shepard Jr. who is an employee of the Holiday Inn Express. The victim has been identified as 55 year old Rajiv “Roger” Parikh, who is the owner of the Holiday Inn Express, who has deceased as a result of injuries sustained from a gunshot wound.

Members of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Medical Examiner’s Office are currently on scene with the Crestview Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division conducting an investigation and processing the scene..

Charges in this case will be forthcoming.
