Law enforcement agencies from across the Wiregrass were hard at work at the Dothan Civic Center Monday.
They were getting everything in place for the annual National Night Out. The goal of the event is to heighten awareness about crime and drug prevention. Organizers hope people come out to strengthen neighborhood spirit and develop partnerships between police and the community.
Dothan Police say it's a great family event-- with a purpose.
"This is a wonderful way to come out with your family. It's a great evening of family fun - its a free event. This will give everyone the opportunity to come see the law enforcement displays and see what it is that we do, get to know us and let us work together to help fight crime in your neighborhood,"Dothan Police Cpl. Rachel David said.
National Night Out is Tuesday from four until eight at the Dothan Civic Center. Organizers are expecting thousands to attend the free event.
