Going from neighborhood to neighborhood----sale signs are planted out front.

Lots of houses for sale---but a fair amount buying also.

Coldwell Banker Realtor Becky Hewitt said, "Homes are moving here.  We've seen an uptick this year in 2010 over 2009.  In fact we've had about a 20 percent increase in volume in total home sales."

Sellers want to---well they want to sell.

But---what they sell for may not be what they want.

"If you bought a house about 3 years ago, it's hard to get the same price that you paid for it then," said Hewitt.

The real estate market is like everything else.

Supply and demand.

The demand in Dothan---not bad.

The supply---plenty.

Lots of homes on the market these days.

Hewitt says, "With the number of homes that are for sale, the number of new construction homes that have been for sale for quite a while.  Inventory is going down.  As supply shrinks the prices for sale will start ticking up."

But--until they tick up more it's really a buyer's market.

"People have been able to get really good buys on some of the newer homes.  Because builders have built those homes and they were ready to sell them.  They are not like a seller who is living in their home," says Hewitt.

For those trying to peddle their home---Hewitt says give it some time.

"I be patient.  If you are a buyer its a great time to get into the market. Interest rates are really, really low.  And you got a lot of houses to choose from," said Hewitt.
