The man killed by Dothan Police in a shooting Thursday night has been identified. 39-year old Ashley Wright of Georgia was shot after police tried to detain him during a drug operation.

It happened about 8:30pm at a convenience store at the intersection of West Main and Honeysuckle. Police are not commenting on the case until Monday. Dothan Police Major Steve Parish told WDHN News the suspect was shot after striking two officers with his car. Those two officers sustained only minor injuries.

Another person was in Wright's vehicle but it's not yet clear if her will be charged. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation. That is routine in officer- involved shootings.
