Charles Jacob Easterly, Jr., a
resident of the Edwin community of Henry County, Alabama, died early Thursday
morning, June 24, 2010, at his home. He was 88.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P. M. (E.D.T.)
Sunday, June 27, 2010, in the Ortona Cemetery, Moore Haven, Florida, with
Pastor Bronc Flint officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of local
arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday
at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Mr. Easterly was born in Tampa, Florida but raised in Naples
and Ortona, Florida, son of the late Charles Jacob Easterly, Sr. and Daisy
Faulkner Townsend Easterly. He lived in LaBelle, Florida before moving to the
Edwin community in 2005. Mr. Easterly served his country in the United States
Army during World War II. He was formerly employed by Miles Schofield Company
in Naples, FL and in later years served as a ranch foreman for various cattle
and horse ranches. He was a member of the Church of Abbeville in the Edwin
community. Mr. Easterly was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Easterly.
Surviving relatives include four daughters, Wanda Bamford
and husband, Jim Bamford, Edwin Community; Sherrie Easterly, LaBelle, FL;
Juanita Rivers and husband, Terry Rivers, Blue Springs, AL; Sarita McQuaid,
LaBelle, FL; a son, Joseph Daniel Easterly and wife, Tammy Easterly, Naples,
FL; three sisters, Eldora Walker, Brownwood, TX; Jessie Farabee, Punta Gorda,
FL; and Naomi Thigpen, Ortona, FL; ten grandchildren and eleven
great-grandchildren.
