Louise
Davenport Miller, a resident of Abbeville, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010,
at her home. She was 95.
Graveside services
will be held at 4:00 P. M. Thursday, June 24, 2010, in the old Abbeville
City Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Mobley officiating.
Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The
family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 P. M. Thursday at the
mortuary in Abbeville.
In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the Abbeville Memorial Library,
301 Kirkland Street, Abbeville, AL. 36310 or to the Abbeville United
Methodist Church Nursery Fund, P.O. Box 100, Abbeville, AL. 36310.
Mrs.
Miller was born and reared in Ft. Payne, Alabama but lived most of her
adult lifetime in Abbeville. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church but had an active role in the Abbeville United Methodist Church
nursery. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Miller, a
sister, Adelaide Landstreet and a brother, Nick Davenport.
“Boo”,
and lovingly called “Bubba”, assisted in raising countless children in
Abbeville in private homes and church nurseries. She was a loving,
nurturing, giving and kind-hearted angel of God. “Boo” loved to read and
helped to spread the love of reading to many children. She was an
amazing cook and happily shared her recipe secrets to others.
Surviving
relatives include her son, George G. Miller (Sue), Eufaula; a
granddaughter, Mary Louise Miller, Kinsey; two great-grandchildren,
Christian Davis and Marissa Davis; a nephew, Charles Landstreet
(Amelia), Ft. Payne, AL.; her extended family include: Davee Hicks
Tessmann, Mandy Armstrong Roberson, Megan Armstrong Yarbrough, Jordan
Miller, Nicole Bostick, Molly Hicks, Evann Tessmann, Amanda Thomas,
special friend, Ingrid Dow, and numerous other children and adults who
have been impacted by her love and teaching through the years.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Richard Roberson, Zac Yarbrough, Chris Davis, Patric Tessmann, Wayne Armstrong, David Hicks, David Herndon, Jeff Bostick and Jordan Miller.
