Wall Train Track

Making a Train Shelf for the Wall:

TOOLS
    * Sabre saw
    * Drill
    * Hammer
    * Ladder

MATERIALS
    * Safety goggles
    * 4 x 8 x 3/4" plywood or 2 x 4 x 3/4" pieces
    * 1 x 6 length size of room between corner shelves
    * 3/4" wide trim for outside edge - 1/4" thickness or less
    * 1 3/4" screws
    * 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" angle brackets
    * Wall brackets with built in wall hangers
    * Number of brackets are determined by the size of the room

STEP 1
    * 4 pieces - Cut from plywood
    * Dotted line on image is the cut. Use the first cut out as a template for the 3 other pieces.

TIP: Use the curve of your train track to determine the radius of your cut.

STEP 2
    * Place wall bracket at desired height and 23 ˝" from corner on both sides.
    * Place 1 ˝" x 1 ˝" angle bracket on top corner of shelf.
    * Place corner shelf on brackets, level and screw angle bracket to wall.

STEP 3
    * Measure between corner shelves for length of wall shelf
      . Cut 1 x 6 to length then screw with 1 5/8" screws on all shelves to the wall brackets.

TIP: After all pieces are cut, paint before assembly.

STEP 4
    * With 3/4" trim, band front edge and nail in place. Start on a straight edge. Nail and work your way around curve. Chalk any voids and touch up with paint.

TIP: If no stud is found for the wall bracket anchor, use asy anchors that screw into sheet-rock. They should hold at least 50 pounds.

STEP 5
    * Screw or nail down track on shelf and connect transformer to track.
