Mr. Sammy Kayle McClenny of Geneva passed away suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his home with his loving wife at his side. He was 62.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Geneva from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
Sammy was born Dec. 19, 1944, in Geneva County to the late Bill and Frances Turner McClenny. He was a member of Blue Lake Masonic Lodge #129, where he had served as secretary for several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his sailboats dearly and enjoyed sailing the gulf waters every opportunity he had. Sammy was a very loving person and always had a smile. After 27 years of service, he retired in May of 2007 from Army Fleet Support in Fort Rucker.
In addition to his parents, two special uncles, Joe Pat Cowan and Roscoe Peterson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Ann McClenny; one stepdaughter, Loren Huggins, both of Geneva; one brother, Tommy McClenny, of Birmingham; three special aunts, Glenda Cowan of Geneva, Mary Hart of Columbus, Ga., and Emma Peterson of Hartford; special cousins, Jeff Cowan and wife, Alice, and daughter, Caitlyn, of Geneva, Jennifer Hatcher and husband, Michael, and children, Emily, Rebekah, and Aidan, of Ozark, Karen Gilmore, Jimmy Hart, Charles Hart, Susan Whitehead and Sherry Gail Cowherd; and other extended family and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roger Weeks, Delton Grace, Todd Ausley, Chad Weeks, Jeff Cowan and Jackie Bradley.
