Leslie Daniel (Dan) Jenkins Sr., a resident of County Road 46 in Midland City (Echo community), died early Sunday morning, Nov. 25, 2007, at his home. He was 66.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in True Light Church of Jesus Christ in Midland City with the Revs. Jimmy Monk and George Leider officiating. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to True Light Church of Jesus Christ, c/o Rev. David Jenkins, 6027 S. Dale County Road 67, Midland City, AL 36350.
Mr. Jenkins was born and reared in Dale County, near Midland City, son of the late John Jenkins and Rosie Nell Walding Jenkins. He moved to his home, near Echo, in 1989. Mr. Jenkins was a member of True Light Church of Jesus Christ. A retired brick mason, he was formerly employed by Arnold Davis Masonry and by his brother, David Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. James Frank Jenkins.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Lottie Davidson Jenkins, Echo community; four daughters, Sheila Jenkins, Echo community, Levita Jenkins, Skipperville, Linda Valdez and husband, Allen Valdez, Ponce de Leon, Fla., Littie Bayer and husband, Chris Bayer, Panama City, Fla.; four sons, Dan Jenkins Jr., Alford, Fla., Jesse Jenkins and wife, Brandy Jenkins, Echo community, L. M. Hicks and wife, Kathy Hicks, Echo community, Larry Hicks and wife, Laura Hicks, Huntsville; five sisters, Virginia Cunningham, Midland City, Billie Ann Senn, Tyler, Texas, Sonya Senn, Crestview, Fla., Linda Jenkins, Midland City, Debra Kowal, Hoover; three brothers, Bobby Jenkins, Skipperville, the Rev. David Jenkins, Midland City, Mitchell Jenkins, Snellville, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be nephews.
