Robert "Bob" Wayne Sherman, 74, of Daleville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at his home.
A requiem mass will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at the Main Post Chapel, Fort Rucker, with Chaplain Vincent officiating. The cremains will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., today at Providence Funeral Home, 1301 Neal Metcalf Road, Highway 167 North, Enterprise, AL 36330. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Bob was born in Allis, Mich. Bob was retired as first sergeant, after 20 years service in the U.S. Army. His combat service included the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. Bobs awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with two "V"s for valor and the Good Conduct Medal (6th Award). He was born Jan. 20, 1933, to the late Joseph and Thelma May Sherman.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucille Ruth Sherman; his three sons, Michael Sherman and wife, Lynn, of Fredericksburg, Va., Robert A. Sherman and wife, Ann, of Daleville, and Col. (USA RET) Patrick L. Sherman and wife, Cathy, of Dumfries, Va. His surviving brothers and sisters include Loretta and husband Hubert Moog of Grand Isle, Fla., Harland Sherman and wife, Erica, of Leesburg, Fla., Twila Sherman of Madeira Beach, Fla., Phyllis and husband, Damien, Simeone of San Diego, and Enoch and wife Annette Sherman of Parrish, Fla. Bob left five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
